13 Book Banter with Craig Hallam

Introducing Craig Hallam

Craig Pic 02

  1.  #IndieBookBanter today welcomes our Indie Author Craig Hallam.  Please tell us a little bit about yourself, and the best place for us to find out more.

Hi everyone, I’m Craig Hallam, an author of Speculative Fiction from Doncaster, South Yorkshire. My main motivation is to get the stories that keep popping into my head out on paper before I go utterly mad. I write wherever I can, in whatever spare time I can find, and take every word as a small blessing. As for secrets about myself…then they wouldn’t be secrets would they?

2. Briefly tell us about your work in progress, what are you planning next?

As usual, I’m juggling three books right now. I’m working on the third (and final) instalment of The Adventures of Alan Shaw trilogy, a cyberpunk novel and a horror novella as well.

3. What was the most unusual source of inspiration for any of your books?

I take it from everywhere I can. Other books, movies, music, and people I pass on the street. Absolutely everything is author-fuel.

4. Who was your favourite character to write about?

Was? Still is! I love Alan from the Alan Shaw series. He’s so broken and imperfect, driven mostly by instinct and a terrible history while being generally a good person deep down. He’s a lot of fun to write.

5. Finally you are invited on a mission to a New World (unfortunately you cannot take any members of your family, friends or pets). Please tell us:-

a) Your favourite fictional character to accompany you?

Aragorn. That guy knows how to survive in the wilderness.

b) Your favourite book?

Yikes. Too tough. Does the spaceship have no shelves?

c) Your favourite song?

‘Addicted To Love’ by Robert Palmer. That will be the new world’s global anthem

d) Your favourite food & drink to take with you (we don’t know what will be available on the New World).

Can I take some pigs, a bag of potatoes and a tea plant? Then I’ll never run out of sausage, mash and tea.

e) Finally, tell us the one (Yes, that is just ONE) item you cannot live without?

Urk. My laptop, I guess. All new world-building and no writing makes Craig a dull boy.
