Introducing Rose Castro

Rose Castro

1. #IndieBookBanter today welcomes R. Castro.  Please tell us a little bit about yourself, and the best place for us to find out more.

Hi! This is R. Castro. I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, western Washington State to be specific, of the United States. I write Contemporary Romance and YA Fantasy.

I absolutely love reading, going to the movies, and eating! Pretty much in that order. Something I don’t usually share is how much I enjoy people watching. I find our species very interesting and it helps when I’m creating the characters I write about. My favourite place to write is currently at my dining table. Mostly because I have really comfy dining chairs, but they also force me to maintain good posture.

2. Briefly tell us about your work in progress, what are you planning next?

I’m currently working on two novels and one novella. One novel, ‘Five Pendants of Creation’ is Book two in ‘The Tetrad Prophecy series’. ‘The Light of Winter’ and ‘Anika’s Way’ are standalone Contemporary Romance, the latter a novella.

3. What was the most unusual source of inspiration for any of your books?

One thing you’ll find about me is that I write a lot about some form of trauma and/or loss. I’m the type of person who listens to others personal stories, because we all have one. But, some people have experienced trauma and/or loss in some horrific ways that I cannot even imagine. Writing helps me purge a lot of the anxiety I collect from learning of these stories.

4. Who was your favourite character to write about?

I really do enjoy all my characters. But, if I must pick one, its probably Nora, from ‘The Light of Winter’.

5. Finally you are invited on a mission to a New World (unfortunately you cannot take any members of your family, friends or pets). Please tell us:-

a) Your favourite fictional character to accompany you?

Robert Langdon

b) Your favourite book?

Origin by Dan Brown (I’m obsessed with Dan Brown and Robert Langdon is his fictional main character.)

c) Your favourite song?

‘Time To Say Goodbye’ – Andrea Bocelli

d) Your favourite food & drink to take with you (we don’t know what will be available on the New World).

Water and tacos!

e) Finally, tell us the one (Yes, that is just ONE) item you cannot live without?

As painful tragedy causes young Viviana Magnus to seek escape, her dreams transport her back in time, from her cloudy Seattle home, to the sun-drenched Aztec Empire. Her encounters with the handsome young general, Tadeo, and his army seem a welcome diversion.

A strange, all-consuming fire begins to grow within Viviana, and she discovers her family has been keeping a dark secret from her. The dreams are preparing her to fulfill her destiny.

As the new world collides with the old, Viviana learns she is one of the Elemental Linx, a tetrad of powerful new era Gods and Goddesses.

‘A Shining Star’

Shining StarAfter the death of her beloved Miss Taylor, Cali Malone found herself at a crossroads in her young life. She’d already suffered more than seemed realistic at her sixteen years of age. Still, she managed to find the strength from within, held onto her unwavering faith and looked toward the future. A future she did not see coming.

Now, she faced the choice to chase her career-driven dreams or continuing at the very place that had offered her hope when she was just nine years old. What she never saw coming was love. A notion she’d chalked off for everyone but herself.

Would Cali find her ‘Happily Ever After?’ Or, would fate threaten the very soul of all those she loved?

‘Christmas in Holly Springs: A Short Story’

Holly Springs

Regina Blackwell didn’t know her father. At the age of sixteen, she lost her mother. There’d always been a sense of emptiness and a yearning for belonging, that she could not placate. Of course, her mother’s estranged family didn’t help. But, Stephanie, Regina’s best friend, did her best to fill the void.

College took Regina to Seattle, and her career kept her there. However, change was in the air when her employer was forced to make drastic cuts, which resulted in her taking unexpected time off. Coincidentally, this led to a chain of events that had her packing and on her way to unravel the mystery that was her father.

Soon, Regina was on her way to Holly Springs, Arkansas, a small country village in the middle of nowhere USA, at least that was how she’d perceived it.

Holly Springs held more than just the answers she’d been looking for; it held a chance encounter with one, handsome, Charles Vandermark.
