  1.  #IndieBookBanter today welcomes our first International Author one of our many #IndieFriends Sherri A. Wingler. This wonderful Indie Author will not be able to join us for this years UK Indie Lit Fest but her books will be featured on the International Table for our Indie Friends. Please tell us a little bit about yourself, and the best place for us to find out more.

Hello, all! I’m Sherri Wingler. I live and work way more than full time in Indiana U.S. In my spare time I write paranormal romance, and chase after a small petting zoo of rescued animals. I have two series going at the same time, right now. “The Immortal Sorrows,” and “The Dark Woods.” The Sorrows takes place in the world of Reaper Angels and The Dark Woods is my take on fairy tales. Specifically, Red Riding Hood and the wolf.

2. Briefly tell us about your work in progress, what are you planning next?

I’m currently juggling two books at once. I’m a little over half finished with “Wings of Defiance,” the third book of the Immortal Sorrows series. For those of you following the series, this one belongs to Grim.

I’ve also been doing quite a bit of plotting for “Feral Moon,” the second book of The Dark Woods series. I meant to wait on “Feral Moon,” but the bad, old wolf won’t stop whispering in my ear. Not that I want him to. He’s vastly entertaining.

3. What was the most unusual source of inspiration for any of your books?

My Immortal Sorrows series meshed Reaper Angels and Greek mythology, which I’m heavily read in. It made for an interesting combination, and I get to explore Death, Time, and Fate as individuals instead of concepts. In my world, Death loves a mortal, Time may or may not be insane, and Fate takes revenge to a whole new level. They’re a fun bunch.

The Dark Woods series started out as an extremely loose interpretation of Red Riding Hood, but it’s morphed into something else entirely. My wolf has dual personalities that can’t get along, and Red is half Succubus from her father’s side of the family.

4. Who was your favourite character to write about?

I’ve had fun with all my characters, but my favorites are always the villains. I love a complex character. Black and white morals don’t interest me. The world is full of shades of grey.

If I must pick just one, it has to be Wrath from the Sorrows. Oddly enough, I couldn’t stand him when I first came up with him. My bestie thought it was hilarious that I couldn’t get along with my imaginary friend. I can’t say much without spoiling the character, but Wrath is about as complex as I could possibly make him. He grew on me after a couple of years. Eventually, I plan to give him a book of his own.

5. Finally you are invited on a mission to a New World (unfortunately you cannot take any members of your family, friends or pets). Please tell us:-

a) Your favourite fictional character to accompany you?

Ha! I’m torn between Professor Snape and Rochester. They’re very similar characters, but Snape doesn’t have a mad wife hidden in his attic. Plus, there’s the whole magic thing. He’d be extremely useful in a new world situation, so it must be him.

b) Your favourite book?

“Jane Eyre,” hands down, is my favorite book. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve read it. As a matter of fact, I’m due to reread it soon. Rochester is calling my name.

c) Your favourite song?

“Bad Moon Rising” by CCR and “Little Red Riding Hood” by Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs. I listened to them a lot while writing “Crimson Moon.” My werewolf mood music.

d) Your favourite food & drink to take with you (we don’t know what will be available on the New World).

Supreme pizza and diet Mountain dew. Terrible choices, I know, but the heart wants what the heart wants.

e) Finally, tell us the one (Yes, that is just ONE) item you cannot live without?

My phone. I’d be completely lost without it. It’s my personal assistant, link to the outside world, and tiny word processor all rolled into one.

Here are Sherri’s books with a short description:-

Wings of Darkness

‘Wings of Darkness’ Immortal Sorrows 1

Death comes for everyone eventually, but Izzy Maitland plans to live forever. At nearly eighteen years old, it’s not an unreasonable goal, but Fate has other plans. Izzy has a car accident. A bad one. Suddenly, strange things start happening and her ordinary life is turned upside down. She wakes up tasting blood, more often than not, and her injuries heal at an alarming rate. Her friends and family weaken, and every day, Izzy grows stronger. Strangest of all, she seems to have acquired a stalker, and he might be the Angel of Death.

Wings 02‘Wings of Shadow’ Immortal Sorrows 2

Mortals never see me in their final moments. Isabel saw me. From the very beginning. She saw me, knew me for the monster I am, and still she loved me. That beautiful young woman with fire in her blood. I wanted her the moment I laid eyes on her. She was perfect, made just for me by a cruel and merciless twist of Fate. Isabel was my mate and my match, in every way, but loving me destroyed her.

Fate stole my love from me, simply to watch me suffer. Oh, it cost her, but not nearly enough. A few dead Reapers were nothing compared to what I would do when I found her. The River of the Dead could run red with the blood of the guilty, and it would never be enough. My revenge would be a bitter-sweet thing, for it would never bring my Isabel back to me. Once she faced Judgment, she would be lost to me, forever.

I could not accept that. I would not.

Wings 03‘Wings of Defiance’ Immortal Sorrows 3

**Available to PRE-ORDER NOW**

You can’t fall in love with Death and expect to live happily ever after. It only works that way in fairytales.

Gwen’s best friend Izzy fell in love with Death. Everyone knows there’s no happy ending to something like that, right? It wasn’t a surprise when tragedy struck in the form of a vengeful Fate, but it left Gwen to pick up the pieces of her life and move on alone.

Devastated and angered by the loss of her friend, she simply wants to withdraw from the world for a while. Too bad for her, because Izzy wasn’t the only one the monsters want. She’s something special, a human who carries Reaper blood, and that makes her valuable to the right people. Her only hope of survival lies in the hands of an inept guardian angel and an egotistical Reaper who’s as sexy as he is lethal.

Don’t miss Wings of Defiance, the third book in the Immortal Sorrows series by Sherri A. Wingler. If you like sexy angels, ruthless demons, or snarky romance, then this book will have you turning the pages!

Wings 00

‘A Glimpse Into Darkness’ Immortal Sorrows Prequel

Clotho has everything; beauty, power, and immortality. She has everything she could ever want, except the love of the one she wants the most.

Witness the moment when obsession turns to hate… and love to madness.

Author’s Note: This is a short story and serves as the prequel of “The Immortal Sorrows” series. Attached is a free sample of book 1, “Wings of Darkness.” I hope you enjoy it!

Crimson Moon

‘Crimson Moon’

In the old days, people whispered about the wolf, said he came only at night, and only by the light of the full moon. They locked their doors and huddled close to their fires, safe in the knowledge they could prepare for his coming. The truth is, no one is safe, because the wolf walks in the skin of the man. Always.

Harlow Hayes is a runaway, thief, and failed Southern belle. Forced to grow up fast after what her mama delicately referred to as, ‘the incident,’ she learns the hard way not all strangers are kind, real monsters hide in plain sight, and family can be found in the most unexpected places.
Harlow Hayes is about to meet the Wolf.
